Understanding Our Services
Sports massage offered by our physiotherapists, is a targeted, hands-on treatment designed to relieve muscle tension, help improve circulation and aid recovery. It supports injury prevention, enhances performance and reduces soreness from training. Tailored to individual needs, it’s beneficial for athletes and anyone experiencing muscular tightness or physical stress.
Physiotherapy assessment involves assessing and identifying injuries or physical problems through detailed clinical evaluation. Using evidence-based research and NICE guidelines, our physiotherapists develop personalised rehabilitation programmes to restore or improve movement, reduce pain, and improve physical function. Each plan is tailored to individual goals, supporting effective, safe recovery and long-term health improvement. Physiotherapy management doesn't always require manual therapy (massage) as it may not be appropriate for the condition. Our practice does not currently provide acupuncture and we do not offer "manipulations".
Physiotherapy follow-up sessions are essential for building strength, ensuring rehab continuity, and supporting long-term lifestyle changes. They provide motivation, accountability, and expert guidance, helping patients stay on track. Regular reviews maximise results, reinforce progress, and ensure the full value of specialist input, making every session a worthwhile investment, however, they are not always needed and is often down to the patient to make the decision based on reasons provided.
Shockwave therapy is a treatment that uses short, strong pulses of sound energy sent through the skin into an injured tendon. A handheld device presses gently on the skin and delivers these pulses, a bit like fast, focused taps. You may feel a strong tapping or aching sensation during treatment, but it is not usually described as painful. The theory is that these pulses stimulate the body's own healing response in the tendon, encouraging new blood vessels to grow and helping the damaged tissue repair itself. It is a non-surgical treatment, meaning there are no cuts or injections involved, and each session usually takes only a few minutes. Shockwave therapy is most often used for long-standing tendon problems that have not fully settled with rest, exercise, or other treatments. It is usually given as a short course of sessions, spaced about a week apart, alongside an exercise programme from your physiotherapist. Most people can carry on with normal daily activities straight after treatment, though you may be advise to reduce certain sports or heavy exercise for a short period around each session du
Personal Training: Reconditioning through personal training with an experienced physiotherapist offers safe, tailored progression built on clinical insight. One-to-one input ensures correct technique, injury prevention, and focused goal-setting. It bridges the gap between rehab and peak performance, enhancing strength, confidence, and long-term health with expert guidance every step of the way.
